This beautiful Chesterfield suite uses real leather and consists of a
chair, two seater and a three seater sofa It would work its magic
in most dolls houses.
The Chesterfield design is classical and has been used throughout many periods
of furniture history. It is said to have originated when Phillip Stanhope, the 4th
Earl of Chesterfield (1694-1773) had a sofa with the deep buttoning, now characteristic
of this type of sofa and chairs, made for himself. Later Chesterfield became a
generic name in both America and Canada for a sofa.
The Chesterfield style has been used in Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian ages and can still
be seen in the more contemporary cafes that are on all our high streets and hotel lobbies, waiting rooms etc.
